“Pleasant. Lizzie and I have been to the green this morning. Passed the PM with Mrs Shirtlief. John passed the night here. another night of suffering has past (sic) but ___ hereafter I will endeavor ever to keep in mind the recollections of the past and more particularly of the evening which has passed”  – Hattie E.F. D.

Notes: Lizzie is Hattie’s younger sister. John is Hattie’s betrothed.
The “green” Hattie refers to is Taunton Green, the center of town.
