“Cold.
Lizzie had company in the afternoon Miss Sarah E. and Sarah B. Williams. Mother went up to the green with Mrs. Shirtlief. Received a letter from John.
Lizzie and I went down to Lyman’s in the evening.”
– Hattie E.F. D.

Notes:
-When some of the letters are challenging to decipher I make my best guess based on Hattie’s general penmanship habits and the use of a magnifying glass.
-The “green” Hattie refers to here is Taunton Green, a park at the center of town.

-Lizzie is Hattie’s younger sister, who would have been 13yrs old in 1866.
